Recap of weekend :D (happy birthday mr. tuna!!)

(warning: image heavy blog entry! :D)

First of all, happy birthday mr Tuna!!! I know you dont' like to draw attention to the fact that it's your birthday but too late :P hope you like the presents i got you and that they arrive soon! (i hope it makes it in time for your bday D:)

i had a nice weekend, spending saturday night with the RHHS group~ kristy, timmy, jon and i had dinner at rice paper @ tst, then headed over to Sky Lounge on the 18th floor of sheraton hotel~ ricky and his lovely gf met us there afterwards and it was just a crazy 'catch up/get to know each other again/rhhs reunion' type moment! it's so funny to hear what happened to who from each person, especially if you can vaguely remember who they are and start remembering memories from highschool :D

after sky lounge we headed over to lkf and wandered the streets/random bars~! it was very funny, especially how we were giggling about everything that was going on around us! best part was when timmy started posing with two unsuspecting police 'people'~ (pics will tell it all~~)

me and kristy on top of some balcony area overlooking lfk:
kristy and timmy~ :D
timmy's dance in front of two wary police officers:
timmy getting friendly (i really can't believe he did that lol... i think we all realized she was a female AFTER the fact D:):
timmy's advances were rejected it seems XD (i think he was really lucky this time lol):
such funny, good times!

on monday, after that crazy weekend, i met up with timmy and kristy at cwb to have dinner together! after the dinner we walked aimlessly around cwb then they met up with jon~

i love the little pink cup timmy chose for me for the sake (not sure if everyone's tried this but when you drink sake, they usually bring out a bunch of cups to let you choose the one you want to use :D i think this really shows the person's personality when doing this :D and timmy's got mine spot on lol):
kristy's cup:
timmy's cup (i swear it looks like a paper cup XD):
stabbing into the cute pumpkin icecream:
kristy seems to be enjoying it :D
timmy and me :D
me and kristy at the lantern festival thing at victoria park :D (we're mimicking the mongolian lantern guy's position XD)
randomly on the streets:
another one just because i love kristy XD

i'll miss this girl so much when she leaves (well technically she's left already and already somewhere across the ocean~~)! the rhhs gatherings were awesome and it just shows that although we've parted our ways after highschool, or didn't even know each other too well then, we're still close friends and connected somehow~

happy mid-autumn festival everyone!! :D hope everyone has a nice view of the lovely moon tonight (i think HK is supposed to be obscured by rainclouds unfortunately D:) but .. i get off work earlier today at 4pm XD (why is no one leaving D: it's 4pm already!!)

will post the rest of the pics from that night when i get them from jon! :D

current mood: off work early~~

silly~ i miss you tons too! i wish you could have come back to join us.. would have been very crazy!!

nic~ miss you lotttts~ dont' get to talk to you much because you are very busy lately(?)! but hope you take more pics of mio and post it up for me to see! about green tea, there are soo many good ones in HK! you should drink more.. i drink at least 700ml of green tea a day (how do i know this exact number? my cup is 350ml and i drink two cups hahaha) and have tried sooo many different types~

some pictures and randomness~

Posted by Ling at 10:51 PM 2 comments
it's been quite busy lately these past few weeks so i've been unable to type more blog posts :D however, i finally have a chance to post some pictures from my mom's and bro's bday dinners~

Happy family (selina here too :D)~

it's been pretty busy at work lately, or at least enough work to keep me awake and not nodding off now and then :P i finally forced myself to do some more database inputing as I've been putting it off for several weeks now... i had to keep reminding myself that this inputing only happens once (as the system is JUST implemented and we need to have the data all inputed and complete) and aside from some small updating work, i won't have to input as hardcore as i was for the last few months.

so.. as i was doing this, i found out that the UK and HK people tend to have pretty interesting names... i was having trouble identifying whether they were male or female -__-;; (no offense to anyone with these names XD;;) the UK names are mostly because of unfamiliarity, especially having been raised in toronto... as for the 'interesting' HK names, i think it comes from HK people being people who like interesting/different names.. but i won't comment further on that haha..

here are some interesting names i came across, mostly HK people, which is why it's interesting to me, because it's not a cultural thing or anything:
  • Ulla
  • Sirling
  • Piecco
  • Shark
  • Tomorrow
  • Hippo
  • Gaurav
  • Talent
  • Happy
  • Gucci (i'm sure Gucci group is happy...)
I'm definite there are a lot more names i came across and missed but these are the ones i remember most~ xD
maybe someone out there finds my english name strange as well haha...

This week has been pretty packed! i was so glad i managed to see Karen for dinner FINALLY. we've been trying to arrange for dinner since early august when she found me on FB but we were both too busy :( i'm so proud of her at her new job tho and reallly hope we have more opportunities to eat together~

so.. brief summary: japanese class on monday night, a lovely lunch with Jon on tuesday (i love lunches with him.. brings back the silly elementary school-ness to things!), mandarin at night, lunch with eddie on wednesday (which was a lot of fun XD but too bad his company is moving to cwb soon D:), dinner with karen on wednesday night, lunch with colleagues thurs, dinner with ray etc. at night, tomorrow i have lunch with irene, dinner with din (hopefully we can finish watching "Tale of Earthsea"....), saturday lunch with kristy (yay! i cant' wait to see you again :D :D), and then afternoon with lg718, sunday with family...

wow. i had trouble typing that up @.@;;
next week i have a bordeaux wine workshop which i'm looking forward to too! my level 1 course doesnt' start till next month but i'm excited.. then there's mid-autumn festival at the end of this month, and then national day at the beginning of october too~

really enjoying life :D

current mood: relaxing (with green tea :D)~

re:

nic~
haha i think i will use them! but not sure when /sweat/ just too cute haha.. take more pics of mio for me soon! so cute~!!

raven~ it's ok :D i'm sure we'll get more chances to see each other! i didn't see you online before you left and should have also thought to email you my number D: i might go to japan at the end of this year so i'll be sure to see you then if i do go!!

mr. tuna~ yah that's what i thought (reflective surface thing)! but i really didn't want to take them out because they were too.. happy in the wrapping :P anyway lots to talk to you about.. hope you have time next week! (and that you're not in pain still from your sprains!)

my dear silly has left hk :(
i went with her to the airport on wednesday (having took the day off) and i think the hardest part was seeing her off through customs and then going back to 'normal' life in HK. it feels so empty when a lot of ppl visit u then suddenly leave, all at the same time! i guess it's something about getting older that i have to get used to.

i really hope she does well in ottawa and that i can see her again soon! i miss her very terribly still but i think it's good to know that she's back in ottawa and will be pursuing her beloved career and also able to be around her family again!

to recap a bit, i took a half day off to go around to do last minute shopping with silly. we met up with timmy, carmen and ricky for a nice dim sum lunch at hopewell at wanchai, (i love each time i meet up with them :D) then went off to mk to buy miscellaneous souvenirs etc that had been left till the last moment! i successfully convinced silly that getting a phone was a better idea than a camera that she may not use at all, and after picking up the rest of the 'needed' things, we headed off to tst where we had birthday dinner with my mom! then on saturday it was my bro's birthday and we went for this large dinner buffet at kowloon.. time passes by too fast -___-;;

skipping the first few days of this week, to quickly summarize, i had dinner with ray on thursday (which was a TON of fun as usual :D), and friday dinner with dinb who then came over to help me play more gundam musou :D

going forward to today, i went out to dinner with bro and micsis and then went to MK with bro to shop for speakers. we ended up buying my needed camera bag from the camera store i got my lenses at :D so glad! finally have a chance to bring my other lens out without fear of it getting crushed when going to crowded places (and really, which places in hk aren't crowded D:)! thanks to mr. tuna, i got this cute little bag XD they didnt' have black left so i got the light blue colour instead :D (the miffys look quite grumpy D:)

and from my dear dinb, these are the spoon and fork i've wanted for the longest time but hadn't been able to get till now (because dinb told me it was stupid to buy it D: so i didn't... and that was 3-4 years ago! i hadn't been able to see it again till now so dinb got them for me as an "apology".. or maybe just to shut me up XD i never let him forget the fact that it was HE who made me unable to get these for 3-4 years...):
i apologize for the plastic wrapping which causes this weird blurriness XD i dont' want to remove it yet till later :D and oh, it looks like an ad for log-on XD i love this set because it's just so.. happy XD imaging waking up and using these for breakfast...

current mood: happy and satisfied :D

ps: will post random pics of bro's bday etc soon...

recap of last week~ (dinner and wii party)

Posted by Ling at 12:04 AM 1 comments
on thursday, we had dinner with lg718's family before they left for toronto on sunday :( it was a reallllly nice dinner and lets just say lots of random pics were taken which i will post in my photo album so enjoy a very 'normal' pic for now :P

as well, to celebrate the last weekend before silly leaves HK, i organized a dinner on friday at our favorite 'porkchop' place and wii party at my house! dinb said he'd only stay till 12am max, but he ended up leaving at 4:30am, and that was only because we were really tired and didnt' want to stay up till 7am like last time :P

lg718 had bought some lovely wine from citysuper to drink at home so after a 'warmup' playing wii, we opened the wine and was pleasantly surprised to find the wine reallllly tasty and sweet! (also, it turns out it tastes especially good with a certain "corn soup" japanese snack.. hahah...) I think silly and i drank too much and got very hyper... we let din and lg718 play gundam musou and the ducky game on ps3 after our longggg mario party game on wii and basically went crazy from then on hahah....

some random pictures:

a very thoughtful dinb (i think he is still trying to see if he can see through the eye that i poked with my finger by accident... D: lets.. not mention this story.. i think it can be summarized by saying i have bad aim ... haha):
me and dinb actually won silly's team! (i have a feeling it's just luck haha...) and we realized our miis look similar, boy/girl version of each other:

our lovely wine (2004 Louis Jadot - chateau des jacques Moulin-a-Vent):
excuse the messy table XD i think it was the only chance i had to take a pic of the wine before we finished drinking it all!: us enjoying the wine :D
i know it's blurry and someone's wiimote is in the way but.. only pic of me holding the wine glass D: before:after XD (mad at the cameraman, din? :O):
this is what happen when you drink red wine, are around crazy, fun people and have a wii; me and silly playing wario ware 'jumping' game and doing the last 'pose' XD:more in my photo album :D
such good times :( i'm gonna miss them all so much!! i can't wait to see them again and have this gaming party sometime again soon...

silly leaves tomorrow :( don't really want to think about it but it's happening soon ~_~;;; much sooner than i realized!

current mood: everyone's leaving soon~ (or have left~~)

PS: it was my mom's birthday today, so will post a different blog entry and pics soon :D happy birthday mom XD

songs, some new things

Posted by Ling at 1:45 PM 2 comments
i never had a chance to listen to his new album till now.. but i've always liked this song, both for the music itself and the lyrics:

自由不變 - 林俊傑

不變不動不轉的世界
剎那瞬息片刻永遠 用全心記住你的臉
來來回回千萬遍
突然領悟你是如何愛我

一直習慣簡單的 隨心的
放任的自由 不喜歡凍結的酒
不慍不火日復一日無聊的生活

沉默的瞭解的是你的溫柔
不管我錯了 對了 因為你說那就是我

to me, it's meaningful!

on a side note: weekend update, after two days of shopping, i bought stuff that i have wanted for awhile but have never found a version that i liked:

1. 'rain' boots :D those plastic-y boots where u feel like jumping in puddles in!
2. a clutch purse, for those days when i feel like wearing high heels and bringing nothing out except the clutch... (if it's even possible to do that in hk.. i bring so much out..)

first found at sogo, second in the peninsula:

the strap is detachable :D and as the price of the bag was the same as a wallet.. @.@;; we thought 'why not?' XD

sorry for slightly over-bright pics, i took them in a hurry to post them so that i can sleep XD

on another side note this really shocks me:

One in four read no books last year

By ALAN FRAM, Associated Press Writer Tue Aug 21, 7:01 PM ET

WASHINGTON - There it sits on your night stand, that book you've meant to read for who knows how long but haven't yet cracked open. Tonight, as you feel its stare from beneath that teetering pile of magazines, know one thing — you are not alone.

One in four adults read no books at all in the past year, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll released Tuesday. Of those who did read, women and older people were most avid, and religious works and popular fiction were the top choices.

The survey reveals a nation whose book readers, on the whole, can hardly be called ravenous. The typical person claimed to have read four books in the last year — half read more and half read fewer. Excluding those who hadn't read any, the usual number read was seven.

I love reading/books! I know there are a lot of friends/people i know who don't like to read, but to me, the world of books is just.. amazing! :D it gives me a chance to go into different worlds, into different people's minds etc, and it's something I wish everyone around me could feel. i guess i'm lucky that books was one of the things my siblings taught me to really enjoy as a kid (computer/video games and comic books being the other D:) and i hope i can pass that on to my kid.

j9, I'm waiting for your book!!

current mood: no idea what i'm doing XD;;

nic~ haha i will send u pics soon.. i finally got pics of milan/milo!!!

high tea @ the peninsula~

Posted by Ling at 5:01 PM 2 comments
its already friday today! the week passed by really fast and i'm super glad that today is really sunny with no sign of rain at all (:X maybe i should keep quiet for now haha...)~

to recap last weekend, on friday they hoisted the level 8 typhoon signal! the storm supposedly left us on wednesday but had circled backwards to HK mid-way and ended up hitting HK straight on~ it was a really awesome day... longgg lunch till around 2:10 when they announced that they will hoist the T8 signal around or before 3:30 ~ then we left around 2:45 as it was hoisted early. i left with my colleagues which was a good thing because the mtr stations were already crowded. they shut down the gates for central station after we were lining up to get on the trains because there were just too many people @.@ it was terrible! i watched the news after and people were crowded in the station, with some fainting etc. and the trains not moving at all D:.. this is what it looked like (i believe this is admiralty?) at central too @.@ but much more packed and barriers around the entrance to the station and all @.@

anyway i managed to catch a shuttle bus after i got after the mtr so it was perfect :D however, like everyone else said, this typhoon was definitely NOT a bad one... when i got home, not only was there no RAIN, there was no WIND @.@ after watching the news, it turned out the typhoon weakened as it hit HK and then dwindled away @.@;; so all that 'hype' but nothing to it! except half a day off work (yay!)!

as noted in the post below, i got my hair permed on saturday @ HAIR ... it isn't much change as they only permed from the ear down (i'm afraid of perming starting at the top! haha my last perm was a bad experience)... it looks nice and i like it (not many ppl notice the difference, which is good :D) but i kind of wish it was a lot longer type of curl @.@ why can i never get a perm the exact way i want D:
afterwards i went furniture shopping with mom and sis on saturday but didn't find anything we liked.. at night we met up with lg718 and his family for dinner at outback! always love spending time with them :D

on sunday i went out to meet silly at causeway bay because it was her turn for a perm! as usual she looked beautiful after it and we met up with timmy and carmen at the peninsula for high tea.. it was verrrry lovely there and i really enjoyed chatting with them and just enjoying the moment. i'm so glad they're in hk and suggested this outing :D the little cakes and desserts were really dainty and tasted really delicious~

after i went to mk with silly to meet up with lg718 to buy random camera stuff and lens! i got a pair of zoom lens 18-135mm for my cam (my wallet has died from the $$ impact~ D:) and also a webcam so i can see my lovely silly in ottawa and also W from toronto :D we ate dinner a chiu chow restaurant where we made the following interesting observation about the following cups :P (can you spot the odd one out? :P)

then the rest of the week has been lessons, rest, lessons, dinner, dinner lesson etc. rinse and repeat. i am not looking forward to next week :( last mandarin lesson with silly, last weekend with lg718's family before they leave, last week with silly etc. it seems like with them leaving, the summer is leaving as well! the summery feeling is slowly dwindling away~

current mood: sigh :(

nic~ milo/milan... haha funniest names so far! we need to think of more!!!

mr. tuna~ thanks for your suggestions :D i took that photo in a hurry and it was the best of the bunch XD i'll show you more later! :D

as promised mr. tuna, the below are the random pics i took with my new cam :D

the bear is hiding among miffys XD
and my before and after pics.. i look too tired in the second one D: sorry.. a long day.. so technically it looks like i look better with straight hair XD but the stylist and everyone i talked to said they preferred the perm :D prolly cuz my hair is too 'blah' if not straightened :X...
all who like playing dynasty warriors: please go watch the trailer!!! number five is coming out :D amazing (and my favorite character too  xD)
current mood: lovin' the cam :D

nic~ haha i thought u knew i had all the consoles tim! that means u have to come back and 'try them all la' /heh
as well.. i hope that my future kitten will be able to "make" the job for mio-leng la!! haha
