sis birthday~ a longgg entry XD

Posted by Ling at 10:09 AM 1 comments
i took a day off on thursday to spend it with my sis, as it was her birthday that day :D it was a great start to the weekend (to me, it begins on friday haha) ~ she came over to central to have lunch with me and bro, then we went off to elements where i also managed to get tickets to watch the 3D version of Beowulf. the mall, though big, didn't have much to look at so we left and went back to central to look at the tiffany at IFC and stop to have a afternoon drink. we headed back home afterwards, then went back out to dinner afterwards to a pretty well-known, old-style beijing cuisine restaurant in tst called 鹿鳴春飯店. i had gone there with the eas group awhile back for our 'reunion' back in march or so and really liked the food. the price was reasonable and the portions were huge! their peking duck is imported from beijing so the taste is a lot different from the usual HK peking duck. For those who have a chance to come to HK, must try it there :D Click here for more info~

as usual, we had a silly, fun time but didn't take too many pictures as both my camera and micsis/bro's cam were out of battery D:

the cute bday cake :D
micsis and i~
we couldn't find anyone to help us take a picture so bro was left out D:
kenny and i~ this is the first in a set of two silly pics but... i think i'll leave the other one out for now hahaha
more pics in my photo album~

the next day, i met up with donb after work and ate at that japanese restaurant i realllly like~ again, it's located in tst, and they are famous for their japanese style porkchop and for their sauces etc. (i was there for the veggies :D soo delicious~~) afterwards, we met up with ken around 10 and helped him buy some clothing he'd need to take on his japan trip (so lucky D: going to japan after arriving in HK for less than a week...) and then went to have some drinks/snacks with him. it was soooo nice because we had to a chance to chat with each after such a long while!

the next day i ate lunch at tst (notice the theme? i think i've been to tst nearly every single day this week.. haha i think it stems from my refusal to stay over in the HK side after work and to avoid it on weekends), then went to ysl to pick up this bracelet i had put on hold. the people in this tst store are SO SO nice ~_~ the reason why it took them all morning to call me was because they had the bracelet sent up from central to their tst store so that i could compare theirs and the one from central at the same time! they then proceeded to take out all their newest items (wallets and clutches mainly) and show them to me, although i didn't buy anything else aside from the bracelet~ for those who are interested, they told me their men's stuff will arrive this week :D
we went down to the lv store after, where i finally got my stupid bag sent to be repaired (long story ~_~;;)~ i was glad there wasn't a lineup outside! inside, the store was packed and it took me awhile to get someone to pay attention to me.. the sales weren't too friendly and it took me so long just to get the bag sent to repairs and to buy the agenda refill i needed ~_~; (i really miss the store in sydney! i know i should have asked the name of the sales that helped us there, but damn, what a large difference it was in comparison to HK.. much nicer)
afterwards we went to elements to watch the beowulf movie :D all i can say, without spoiling the movie, is that it was really really fun to watch, especially if you haven't watched a 3D movie before. i've only seen a short one at disneyland many years ago so it was really amazing to see a full length movie in 3D. i think the movie itself would have been a little less interesting if it wasn't in 3D, but i think it was not bad as a whole. i was basically (as per usual) the only one laughing at the lame jokes/actions in the movie... i wonder if it's because the ppl in hk really just read subtitles and the jokes are lost in translation or if they're too busy reading the subtitles to notice that something funny happened?

i got home really late and realized that i had a lunch date with my bro/micsis the next day so i basically had around 6 hours of sleep (not enough when it's the weekend! D:)
on sunday, i had a chance to relax with my family and spend the afternoon shopping a bit with my sis. sunday is always a 'winding down' and 'preparing' (for work D:) day for me so i took the time to stay at home and do things that i never had time to do. (ie. format my laptop; i hope it's not still messed up ~_~;;)

1. this week: must start on christmas cards, christmas present shopping and mailing out stuff! november is already nearly finished :D i am so glad (i think it's my least favorite month of the year.... haha..)

2. must be careful not to get sick (especially you, raven!!) - too many ppl have colds/sore throats/flu/cough at the office D:

3. should i? or should i not? re: taking the exam... i know i want to.. but it's such a large commitment ~_~

current mood: happy birthday sis ~~ (and jon too!!)

ara~ hihi dear, i sent you an email with my snail mail awhile back.. could you send me yours as well? thanks! :D i want to see more pics of you~

j9~ haha... hicksville aww.. come visit me soon! i will be sure (with silly little architect girl hopefully) to take you around and make sure you get a big dose of the HK city life here.. i get tired of it easily so i wish i can trade you for hicksville sometimes :(
mario galaxy is fun! depending on what style of game you want, for silliness get the rayman games (so super silly) and wario ware (for silly laughs again), for group games get mario party (for those days when you have a bunch of people over who want to play a board game without the actual 'board'), and maybe the mario olympics game (personally i think it's a little hard to play tough), for girlie games get cooking mama (for the girlie side of you), and guitar hero (for random music game). I could go on and on about this... hahah

christmas in the air XD

christmas is in the air!
festival walk - putting up christmas tree (a white one this year, in place of the swarovski one from last year)
harbour city - beautiful decorations from the ocean terminal entrance (next to ferry)... so gorgeous! but only complaint is that there are tons of people there (as expected~) D:

my attempt at taking a pic of the gorgeous display on the stairs :D just look at the number of people! (sorry for the positioning mr tuna! i will take nicer pics with my normal cam soon i promise :P you would love it at this time of year!)IFC - putting up a large centerpiece in various open areas like last year; last year was a toy theme, i wonder what it is for this year? and the stringed quartet is here again! :D love going here at lunch and enjoying the music while eating with friends; really dont' want to leave haha...

langham place - beautiful 'snow forest' theme and lots of hanging lights :D cameras off my prada phone actually dont' look too terrible haha...

a rabbit! :D
i finally bought christmas cards on saturday (cute ones, if i may say so myself haha), but counting again, i realize there may not be enough cards to send out D: my deadline to send out is first week of december, before those silly cut off dates and also so that people can receive them BEFORE the christmas holidays~

yesterday i went to a 'bayview' gathering dinner (i believe i was the only other non-bayview person that knew everyone... they called me a 'spy' or 'bayview wannabe' D:) organized by stephen (thanks for taking the time :D), which was a LOT of fun! ah gor (big ken) is back in HK and will be staying here for a short while so it was really good to see him again. we had about 14 people and ate at a chinese restaurant in the causeway bay area~

semi group photo (once again this photo is kinda messed up because there just wasn't enough space for us to stand all together haha...):

can't wait till we have another gathering! :)

on a side note, my sis' birthday is coming soon: this thursday! i was lucky and able to book a place recommended by philip previously (and that we went to for our first eas gathering) and will take half a day off (mandatory, as required by the Older Sister law :P) to spend it with her. i will take pics of that place for sure :D

current mood: i'm so tired D:

ps: park & shop are finally not giving out plastic bags anymore D: that means...either you pay for each bag they give you, or i gotta remember to bring reusable bags each time @.@ (i can totally imagine myself lugging vegetables/fruits home in my hands because i forgot...)

silly~ thanks.. same back to you :P i want to see more on your life drawing! good luck in these upcoming weeks; i know you're super busy and stuff.. give my love to your sis and tell her i love her and can't wait till we 'ss' you again~

ara~ thanks :D that outfit was inexpensive too... about 250 HKD? which is like 30 bucks CAD? if only i knew your size D: then i could get you clothing and dress you up since you're so tall and slim~ miss ya :D glad you write in your blog often!

mr. tuna~
hahaha i knew you were gonna make a comment about the pictures!! unfortunately that's what happens when you pass it to a waiter who tries to just fit everyone in the picture~ the picture with me and two other friends also had that problem so i kinda had to crop off a bit of it... it previously was showing off how beautiful the ballroom and tables were and seemed like we 'just happened' to be sitting there as well.... it was terrible! if i wasn't sitting so far, i would have preferred to bring my own cam of course hehe

a touching wedding :D

i've been sooo lazy to update lately, probably due to a mixture of random stuff that's been going on and also because i've been sleeping too late, lately =______=; i actually nearly fell asleep in the washroom today because i was sleepy...i found myself walking there with the purpose of standing in front of our tiny lockers and leaning against it to close my eyes. i took a power nap at lunch for around 20 minutes and it helped a lot.

on sunday, i went to attend a colleague's wedding! it was held at island shangri-la in admiralty and it was absolutely amazing! the setting was perfect, the service was perfect and my friend looked amazing that night :) it was just hard not to feel the love her husband had for her, and their vows made my eyes tear up so easily. it really told everyone "now THIS is what love is"... the food was pretty good too! and there were none of those embarassing games where you have to find out who the bride is, etc etc. so it was really short and sweet. i think that now that they allow lawyers to come to a reception place to conduct the marriage ceremony, it's much more efficient and MUCH more enjoyable. Previously, for those who dont' know how it works in HK, you basically gotta get a ticket to line up so that you can line up for a chance to get married on a certain day. that's right, you go online to grab a ticket so that you can have a chance in line to choose the day you wanted to get married. and that's not all, when you do get a chance to get your day, you have only 15 minutes to do the whole process and they literally rush you out the door even if you weren't finished!! so basically there would be minimal photo taking!

so, on to the pics from that night :D i had a LOT of fun with my colleagues and 'brother', ray and am ever so glad we have a few new members to our team at work who are around my age to talk to and stuff :D

ray bro and i:

me, april and philip :D
small group pic~
current mood: sigh... empty and lost! haha (as usual)

a lovely weekend~

Posted by Ling at 9:23 AM 0 comments
the weather in hong kong has been soooo gorgeous lately! I can't begin to describe how comfortable it is. For one thing, it's a lot cooler than it was last year around this time, and it's also much dryer. yes, in comparison to the dryness in toronto, the HK dryness is not really all that dry, but if you live here for a year and compare to how 'wet' the air normally is, you'd get what i mean!

going into the month of november is kind of 'difficult' as there are no holidays this month AND there's not much going on. hopefully i can take a day off just to relax and do nothing as i think i really need that =__=;

to recap my weekend, i had class on saturday as usual, then went back home to wait for my sis to go out and shop. while waiting, we played guitar hero (or rather watch my bro/sis play it as they were nearly finished the game) for a bit, then headed out to tst. i haven't really done a 'go out and shop' type trip in awhile (usually i go out with friends but basically roam around endlessly looking at things) but it was soo nice to go to all these small plazas in tst that i never knew existed. we all just bought one item although we looked at a number of different shops.

on sunday, i went out to lunch at cwb, then shopped for belated birthday presents. after not really finding anything, we went back to tst where i bought a lot of 'much needed' things. i finally got a chance to visit the agnes B chocolate shop opened at harbour city!! the chocolates are so cute, and i was able to buy a present for a friend there, as well as a few chocolates for myself. unfortunately, i forgot to take a pic when there were more pieces but at least i got a pic of what two of the types of chocolates looked like:

(i had to sneak this pic while at work as i brought them to eat at work XD so sorry for the awkward lighting!) only two D: the chocolates are SOO adorable in a box together!! xD i am still debating whether i should open my friend's gift and take a picture but i don't think i should -.-;

for dinner we ate at this italian restaurant where they had a special type of pork meat called the "cinta senese', a type of pig that lives in Tuscany. Supposedly the meat is very good for you, as there's a lot of nutrients and 'good cholesterol'. the meat was grilled reallly nicely and it was so soft and delicious to eat! we also ordered spaghetti carbonara and for once, it's actually done al dente!!! (never before tried it and it was made correctly in HK lol). We also ordered this special 'cold platter' of various meats which was very very delicious and delicate. i definitely recommend going there to try it once!

i can't believe it's monday already D: i've got soo many things to do and i haven't even started @.@;; hopefully the day will pass by quickly and i can get out of here soon ~_~;;

this week: class, dinner, class, dinner, dinner, dinner, wedding @.@ already filled up~

current mood: still feeling a bit dizzy from the day before ~_~;
